Learn-To-Swim Courses

The DeKalb Park District is proud to be an authorized provider of the six-level American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program. The program is designed for children age 6 and up, and students progress through the levels at their own pace, mastering the skills in one level before advancing to the next. Each level of Learn-to-Swim classes include training in basic water safety and helping others in an emergency, in addition to stroke development.

Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills
Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Level 3: Stroke Development
Level 4: Stroke Improvement
Level 5: Stroke Refinement
Level 6: Swimming and Skill Proficiency

Parent-Child Aquatics (6mo-3yrs)

$50rs/$60nr per session
Parents and children participate in several guided practice sessions that help kids learn elementary swimming skills, including water entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back floating, underwater exploration and more.

Preschool Swim Lessons (3-5yrs)

$50rs/$60nr per session
Children learn water safety, survival skills and foundational swimming concepts in a safe and fun environment. Skills are age-appropriate, allowing students to achieve success on a regular basis.

Group Lessons (5-15yrs)

$50rs/$60nr per session
Lessons follow a research-based curriculum that allows students to progress through the levels at their own pace, mastering the skills in one level before advancing to the next. Classes are divided into groups based on ability and completion of prerequisites.

Private Lessons (5yrs & up)

$99rs/$109nr per session
One-on-one instruction is provided for children and adults.
Semi-private lessons are offered for students at the same skill level that wish to share the instructor. Students may
work on the skills from the group lessons or other specific skills as desired.

Intro to Swim Team (5-15yrs)

Mondays & Wednesdays | 9:15 - 10:15am
$70rs/$80nr per session

Youth swimmers are introduced to techniques and skills used in competitive swimming. Swimmers learn skills such as turns and starts while building swimming endurance. This program is a great way to introduce swim team concepts and activities prior to joining a swim team.
