The DeKalb Park District is proud to be an authorized provider of the six-level American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program. The program is designed for children age 6 and up, and students progress through the levels at their own pace, mastering the skills in one level before advancing to the next. Each level of Learn-to-Swim classes include training in basic water safety and helping others in an emergency, in addition to stroke development.
Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills
Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Level 3: Stroke Development
Level 4: Stroke Improvement
Level 5: Stroke Refinement
Level 6: Swimming and Skill Proficiency

Lessons follow a research-based curriculum that allows students to progress through the levels at their own pace, mastering the skills in one level before advancing to the next. Classes are divided into groups based on ability and completion of prerequisites.
$99rs/$109nr per session
One-on-one instruction is provided for children and adults.
Semi-private lessons are offered for students at the same skill level that wish to share the instructor. Students may
work on the skills from the group lessons or other specific skills as desired.

Youth swimmers are introduced to techniques and skills used in competitive swimming. Swimmers learn skills such as turns and starts while building swimming endurance. This program is a great way to introduce swim team concepts and activities prior to joining a swim team. Swimmers must have passed the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Level 3 course prior to enrolling in this program.

This blended learning lifeguard class includes Basic Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid training. All certifications are valid for 2 years. Please note that this blended learning class combines in-class sessions with online learning. Plan an additional 8-10 hours outside of the meeting times to complete the online class sessions.
