DPD Junior Golf Championship at Buena Vista Golf Course
The DeKalb Park District will be hosting a Friday Family Movie in the Park. The family movie is shown on a GIANT inflatable movie screen in Hopkins Park near the bandshell. Admission is FREE. Bring a picnic, lawn chairs and blankets. Movie will begin at dusk, but come early for pre-movie activities. Recognized throughout the country as one of the Midwest's most historic musical organizations, the DeKalb Municipal Band will hold the 2014 concert season at the Hopkins Park Band Shell, 1403 Sycamore Road, DeKalb. Performances include soloists each week and a special "Pops Concert" and fireworks show on the Fourth of July as well as other special featured events.

History: The DeKalb Municipal Band is a tradition that goes back to 1854, when a small group of musicians fresh from the California Gold Rush formed the Silver Cornet Band. Since then, a City Band in DeKalb has existed for 155 years, uninterrupted by wars, and a depression. With such a record, DeKalb claims to be the city with the oldest continuous band in Illinois.

Monday, May 25th
Join us on the grounds of Ellwood Museum after the Memorial Day Parade from 10:00 am - noon. Celebrate, remember and reflect upon our country and the heroes that made us great. The Mansion will be open free of charge following the Memorial Day Parade and the service.
Monday, June 1st at River Heights Golf Course
The DeKalb Park District will be hosting its 9th Annual Scholarship Golf Outing at River Heights Golf course on Monday, June 1st. All proceeds from the outing provide opportunities for families to participate in recreation programs and use facilities who would otherwise be unable to do so because of financial burdens. Play golf or become a sponsor! For further information call 815-758-6663. The $50 player fee includes golf, lunch, and a great time.
Saturday, July 4th, Fireworks at Dusk
Bring chairs, blankets, games, and appetites for an afternoon and evening with family and friends. Food booths from many favorite local caterers, grills, and vendors will be on site in the early afternoon hours. The DeKalb Municipal Band will perform in the bandshell before and during the fireworks. Fireworks at dusk are co-sponsored by the DeKalb Park District and City of DeKalb.
