Discover Out of School Support

Discover options with the DeKalb Park District for year-round support when your child is not in school! In-person learning? Remote learning? Hybrid? Scheduled day off school? Summer break? Whatever your needs are, the DeKalb Park District has your back and is your one stop shop for out-of-school day and time needs.

Snacks and Lunches

The DeKalb Park District has partnered with the Northern Illinois Food Bank to provide snacks and lunches to all children in our care. Whether you are in the Before & After School Program or the Out of School Care Program, your child is eligible for a snack and lunch. If you prefer, your child may bring their own lunch and snack.

Cost Estimate

We understand child care costs can be a concern as you manage your household budget. Our goal is to keep 5-day-a-week programs, on average, around $33 per day and half days around $24 per day. If you have specific pricing questions, please contact Recreation Office Coordinator, Wendy Hayes at (779) 777-7262 or whayes@dekalbparkdistrict.com.

Out of School Care Program for 2021-2022 School Year!

Need care on the days your child is not in school? Or are you opting out of in-person learning? We have you covered! Sign up for the 3-Day Out of School Care Program option and drop them off at the Sports and Recreation Center and we will handle the rest. Need care for 2 days or 1 day instead of 3? We can do that too! If you choose to opt-out of in-person learning, but still need care, sign up for our 5-day Out of School Care Program option.

Monday-Friday, 7 am - 6 pm at the Sports & Recreation Center, located at 1765 South 4th Street, your child (K-5th Grade) will experience a safe and fun place for individualized learning! We will provide time and space for learning, arts/crafts, and exercise. Please keep in mind, this is not camp, but it's also not school! Staff are not teachers, however, they are there to help whenever possible. This is a DCFS non-licensed facility and 4C program.

We will work with you to make sure your kids are prepared and provide transportation, to and from school. We will connect with your child's teacher to make sure they login on a daily basis and help them with their remote learning.

Discover the Before & After School Program

Whether you are in Group A or Group B or opting out of in-person learning, we have the child care program for you. We know this can be confusing, so we are here to help!

If you are in Group A, sign up for Group A assigned to your school location and we will handle the rest; if you are in Group B, do the same thing for Group B to your child's school location. All you need to do is drop your child off at the Sports and Recreation Center and we will transport them to and from their school. It's that easy!

If you child takes the bus to school, no worries! We can pick them up after school and transport them the Sports and Recreation Center. Want care in the same school location, after school? We want to do that too, but it will depend on the demand. As soon as we have 3 kids enrolled in the program at the same school in the same Group, we will offer after school care at the school location. Until we meet that demand, after school care will remain at the Sports and Recreation Center, located at 1765 South 4th Street.

For either two-day option (Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday) the fee is $48 IDR/ $58 R.
